What this node does
Kaleidoscope folds aCOMFYTV_VIDEO clip into a number of mirrored radial segments around a center point, producing rotationally symmetric visuals, then writes a new snapshot on ▶ Run.
In and out are both COMFYTV_VIDEO. To feed native ComfyUI nodes, insert a Bridge — see the bridge guide.
When to use it
- Turn moving footage into hypnotic, symmetric mandala visuals for music or VJ loops.
- Abstract a busy shot into a clean geometric pattern.
- Create seamless-feeling looping backgrounds from arbitrary source video.
Parameters
segments
Number of mirrored wedges,1–64, default 6. More segments = finer, busier symmetry; 1 is effectively a single slice.
angle
Rotation of the whole kaleidoscope,-180°–180° (step 1), default 0. Spins the assembled pattern.
source_angle
Rotation of the sampled source before mirroring,-180°–180° (step 1), default 0. Changes which part of the frame feeds each wedge.
center_x / center_y
The mirror center as normalized coordinates, each0.0–1.0, defaults 0.5 / 0.5 (frame center). Move it to pivot the symmetry off-center.
Outputs
Tips
- Animate the feel by combining a low segments count with a non-zero angle for a slow spin, or use source_angle to shift what’s sampled.
- Off-center the pattern with center_x/y when the natural subject sits away from the middle.
