The division of labor

The built-in asset library is the workbench: assets live with the project, feed stages via @ references, and get proxies for editing. Eagle is the cross-project archive and intake: ratings, tags, folders, full-text and AI search, browser clipping — a curated collection that outlives any single project. The integration wires the two together in both directions:
  • Out: generated results flow into Eagle (manually or automatically), filed per project, searchable forever by the prompt that made them.
  • In: anything in Eagle — including references you clipped from the web — can be browsed in the sidebar and pulled onto the canvas as a regular asset.
One model-level fact to accept up front: Eagle always copies imported files into its .library — there is no reference mode. The ComfyUI output stays where it is (ComfyTV never deletes files); the copy inside Eagle becomes the archived original.

Requirements & setup

  • The Eagle desktop app (Eagle 4; Eagle 4.0 Build 21+ unlocks the richer V2 API — older builds fall back to V1 with weaker search).
  • A library (or at least a folder) you are happy to receive ComfyTV output. A dedicated library is recommended — Eagle can only have one library open at a time.

The three states

Eagle’s API only ever operates on the currently open library. ComfyTV probes Eagle and derives one of three states, shown as a dot in the Eagle tab header: The queue is the safety mechanism: with your personal library open, nothing is ever sent into it by mistake. Queued items flush automatically the next time ComfyTV sees the pinned library open (a banner in the Eagle tab shows the count, with a manual flush button).

Browsing and using Eagle items

The Eagle sidebar tab lists the library with search, a folder dropdown, and media-type filters (on the V2 API, search is full-text and matches tags too). Video cards play on hover; audio cards have an inline preview button. To use an item:
  • Drag it onto the canvas. The item is imported into the asset library automatically and lands as a loader node at the drop point — from there it behaves exactly like any native asset (stage inputs, @ references, proxies).
  • Or hover a card and click the import arrow to add it to the asset library without placing a node.
Imported items are regular assets with source: eagle; re-importing the same item reuses the existing asset instead of duplicating it.

Sending to Eagle

Right-click any asset in the asset library and choose Send to Eagle. The file is imported into Eagle (into the send target folder), tagged comfytv, and its annotation is filled with the generation provenance recovered from the output history — stage, project, workflow, prompt and parameters. In Eagle you can later search for that prompt text and land on the exact render.

Auto-archive

Turn on Auto-archive outputs to Eagle and every stage render (image / video / audio, including each image of a batch) is archived the moment it is persisted:
  • filed into an Eagle folder named after the project (created automatically),
  • tagged comfytv + the project name,
  • annotation carrying the full provenance (workflow, prompt, options).
Archiving is queued on a worker thread and never blocks generation; if Eagle is closed or on another library, items pile up in the queue and flush later. The community workflow this enables: generate freely, then curate in Eagle with ratings — the archive is complete by construction.

AI search & find-similar

If Eagle’s official AI Search plugin is installed and running, two extras light up automatically:
  • an AI toggle next to the search box — semantic search (“a red boat on waves”) instead of keyword match;
  • a find-similar action on each card — visual similarity search across the library.
Both stay hidden until the plugin reports ready.

Pairing with Eagle’s MCP server (optional)

Eagle also ships an official MCP Server plugin (default http://127.0.0.1:41596/mcp, streamable HTTP). It is independent of this integration but pairs well with the ComfyTV MCP server for agent workflows: an agent can read your current Eagle selection, batch-tag, re-file and annotate items, while driving ComfyTV generation through the ComfyTV tools.

Notes & limits

  • Eagle copies files on import; treat the copy in the library as the archived original. ComfyTV keeps its own output files untouched either way.
  • Browsing in read-only mode uses the library’s on-disk format directly; writing never touches the disk format — all writes go through Eagle’s API.
  • On Eagle builds before the V2 API, search falls back to Eagle’s V1 keyword matching.
